Health Screening

Mammography
Women aged between 50 and 70 are offered a mammogram every three years. We would encourage you to accept this invitation, but if for some reason you are unable to attend whilst the mobile unit is in Shipston, please let us know and alternative arrangements can be made.

We also encourage women over 70 to have mammography but they will not be automatically invited and should contact the Breast Screening Unit directly on 02476 844155.

Cervical smears
The Health Authority has a computerised recall system for women between the ages of 25 and 64 which advises all women when smears are due and notifies them of their results. Routine screening is every 3 years.

Drugs and Alcohol
If you or a member of your family have a problem with illegal drugs or if you are concerned about the use of recreational drugs or alcohol, GP’s would be happy to talk to you completely confidentially. We work closely with the local Community Drugs Team and the Community Alcohol Service. You can be seen by a drugs worker at the Medical Centre. We can also signpost you to other local community organisations for information and support.
