Health Promotion and Lifestyle Advice
All the Doctors, Nurses, Health Care
Assistants and Health
Visitors in the team are willing to discuss any concerns you may have
about your physical and mental health.
Health promotion topics are displayed in the waiting room and are
complemented by appropriate information leaflets. Displays are changed
monthly. Patient information sheets are available from our GP’s and are
normally printed out for patients from the practice intranet.
In addition the particular problems we are concerned about are:
Smoking
The biggest preventable cause of cancer and heart disease! If you want
help to give up please talk to your Doctor, Practice Nurse or Health
Visitor.
Blood Pressure
All patients should have this measured every 5 years.
Weight and Diet
A healthy diet is one that maintains a normal weight, is low in animal
fats and high in fibre. If you would like more advice please discuss
with us.
Alcohol
If you wonder whether you are drinking too much, or are concerned that
you are, we would be happy to discuss this with you.
Exercise
If you have any doubt that you should be taking more exercise we will
encourage you.
Mental Wellbeing
Having a mental health problem such as anxiety and depression can affect
our wellbeing just as much as a physical illness. If you feel you have a
mental health problem please come and discuss it with your doctor.
We have Counsellors working with us and strong links with the Community
Mental Health Team.
